The Preschoolers sorted a variety of colorful treasures in the art studio and then helped create monochromatic collages as part of the Sorting Olympics, an indoor Field Day activity. The Preschoolers enjoyed printmaking with feathers. Here is a slideshow of the artists in action. Can you guess what actions they are doing? Hint: they all begin with the letter "P" After reading the book Feathers: Not Just for Flying by Melissa Stewart, the students created their own colorful feathers out of paper, sharpie, crayons, watercolors, and scissors. They learned that birds have thousands of feathers and their feathers have many different jobs like keeping birds warm and protecting them from the sun. The students also enjoyed looking at and touching real turkey and owl feathers. The students enjoyed seeing their feathers displayed as large bird wings. They each took a turning trying the wings on! The Preschoolers started the year off exploring clay in the art studio. They found great joy in using their hands and imaginations to turn their pieces of clay into new ideas. The wet and squishy material inspired stories about lobsters eating pancakes, loaves of bread, crocodile hotdogs, bear caves, and much more! |
